Employers snap up Ulster accountancy graduates

Almost four out of five University of Ulster accountancy graduates are finding employment within six months of graduating – despite the economic downturn.

The university’s latest employment destination data (November 2008) showed that 77 per cent of accounting graduates gain employment after six months.

Dr Armstrong, acting head of accounting for Ulster business school says: “We welcome collaboration and ongoing links with key employers, the business community and the accounting bodies.

“At this time when the graduate recruitment market is facing challenges, it is crucial that we enhance these existing links and help students meet the changing demands of the marketplace.”

Professor Marie McHugh, dean of the Ulster business school, added: “We are very proud of the strong associations that we have established over a long period of time with the professional accounting bodies – the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, ACCA and CIMA. Their support for and accreditation of our programmes provides our graduates with a very solid foundation and qualifications which leave them well prepared for the world of work.”
