Graduates offered taste of IT industry

Graduates looking to pursue a career in IT are being offered the chance to get a taste of life in the industry.

FDM Group, which claims to be the UK's largest graduate recruiter for the IT sector, has organised a series of training sessions at its offices in Manchester and London to help university leavers gain valuable commercial experience.

They will be able to choose from technical seminars and workshops covering subjects like soft skills and industry insight, and will be allowed to attend as many as they like.

Taster sessions scheduled for FDM's Manchester office include: An Introduction to Agile Development using SCRUM (16 June); An Introduction to the IT Industry and FDM (22 June); An Introduction to Software Testing (29 June); Life as an IT Consultant (6 July). All the events will run from 6pm to 8pm.

London taster sessions include: Parents' Evening (9 June, 6pm -8pm); Project Lifecycle Overview (15 June, 5pm-7pm) and An Introduction to Relational Databases (22 June, 5pm-7pm).

FDM offers IT services to more than 200 clients worldwide in areas like testing, application support, infrastructure and training. To date, around 2,500 graduates have come through the company's award-winning academy and it aims to recruit a further 1,000 candidates this year.
