New film studies degree for Keele
Movie buffs can now take an in depth look at cinema thanks to a new film studies degree course at Keele University.
The new course, which is now accepting applicants for an autumn 2010 start, will tackle a broad range of topics including: mainstream and marginal cinema; European art cinema; the significance of the film star; and expressions of gender and sexualities on-screen.
Students will be able to specialise in particular areas of film according to their personal interests and strengths.
Dr Beth Johnson, lecturer in film studies, said: “The BA dual honours programme in Film Studies at Keele is exciting, diverse, theoretical and challenging. Open to both students with and without prior Film Studies experience, this degree offers the opportunity to analyse an array of topics including national, mainstream and marginal cinemas.”
