Open doors at school of nursing and midwifery this weekend
Robert Gordon University's school of nursing and midwifery is to hold the first of two open days this Saturday (23 January) to highlight opportunities to study for a career in the caring professions.
With average wages of over £20,000, newly trained nurses can look forward to enjoying a career that is well paid, meaningful and underpinned by a degree. The open day events may be of particular interest to those wishing to start a degree in nursing later this year, as well as postgraduates on the hunt for a change of career or trained nurses looking for new direction.
Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the facilities that Robert Gordon University has to offer, including the state-of-the-art clinical skills centre, a fully equipped ward 'mock up' designed to aid the teaching of practical skills prior to clinical placements.
Those returning to study from the world of work or home life may also be particularly interested to discuss with university staff the ways in which they could be helped to adjust to studying full-time, by taking into account personal commitments.
Representatives from different branches of the nursing profession will be in attendance to help give visitors a better idea of what to expect from a career in the field and student nurses will also be there to offer an insight into what to expect from life as a student nurse.
Whether it's a new course of study or to further existing qualifications, help will be on hand at the faculty of health and social care building, Garthdee Road, Aberdeen, from 10am to 2pm this Saturday and again on Saturday 13 February.
