Proskills are granted new licence
Proskills, along with three other sector skills councils (SSCs) have been successful in their application for a further trademark license and have gone through a comprehensive assessment process led by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills.
Business, innovation and skills secretary Lord Mandelson said: “Employers can be confident that the Sector Skills Councils relicensed today have come through a rigorous assessment and will offer employers the highest quality service in meeting their skills needs.”
The SSC assessment is a long process which collects evidence, including employer testimonies to be considered before there are any recommendations to ministers on whether to license or not.
Stephen Falder, director of HMG Paints and chairman of Proskills said: “It is fantastic news that Proskills has been relicensed and it is satisfying that this rigorous process has confirmed the excellent work Proskills has done this far. We are determined to help employers have a clear and powerful voice in the skills system and this news strengthens the platform we need to lead the exciting work to transform the skills profile of our sector. Almost one million people work in the eight industries that Proskills represents, and it is crucial that our voice continues to be heard to government if the skills system is to remain relevant to employers.”
