Salford opens Graduate Gateway
The University of Salford is opening its Graduate Gateway skills coaching scheme to all university leavers based in the North West.
Two five-day courses will be available in November and January, with 25 places available on each.
Graduates who are unemployed or underemployed will be able to access expert coaching on skills such as presenting and building a personal brand. They will also work on projects to present to employers. Previous participants include professional services firm Deloitte and web company UKFast.
Another highlight will be a day of leadership training run by the Army at a centre in Hulme, Manchester.
Mary Macfarlane of the University's Careers Service said: "We recognise that many graduates are unemployed or underemployed - working in roles not suited to their skills.
"This scheme provides a solid grounding in skills such as leadership and communication, and practical skills, to help the participants get on to the career ladder."
Graduate Gateway, which has been available to Salford graduates since 2009, is supported by the European Social Fund.
