Salford professor awarded OBE

Professor Brandon, the academic that set up one of the UK’s top research centres for the built and human environment, has been awarded an OBE in HM The Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

The professor has a long history of successful research in the construction industry and has been based at the University of Salford for more than 25 years.

In 1990 he set-up the School of the Built Environment (then known as the Department of Surveying) and his major contribution to academic life has been to establish the built environment as a legitimate subject for academic study and research.

Professor Brandon said: “I am deeply honoured to receive this award which represents a team effort from the University of Salford and the people I have worked with at the research councils, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and institutions abroad. They have all contributed so much to my work and understanding of academic life, business and humanity.”

Vice-Chancellor Professor Martin Hall said: ““This is a well deserved honour that brings credit to both Peter and the University.”
