About Us

Principal Hayley Hotels and Conference Venues is a collection of 24 landmark city centre hotels and dedicated conference and training venues across the UK and Europe. We want to make sure that our guests receive a lasting impression that makes them want to return again and again, so what makes us different to all the other hotel and venue groups across Europe?

Well, whether it’s a customer wishing to organise an event, stay away on business or looking to relax or recuperate, we have unique hotels and venues that offer a diverse choice, whilst never compromising on the service received. We've got iconic city centre hotels, close to business districts, shops and local transport links and our venues are in idyllic grounds where the peace and quiet allows our guests to getaway or absorb a really important message.

But what else? We're a group that is continually looking for ways to grow and develop. From a small group of 6 hotels, we've grown to 24, and are continually investing in the collection - over £100million spent since 2005. We've not only got presence in the UK but have also expanded to Europe and still want to acquire. Yet we practice some very fundamental core values that ensure consistency, quality and sensational service:

Our Graduate management programmes are unique as they are designed around you. We want you to relish the challenge of working through a number of responsible positions, developing your skills, experience and career with us.

Our programme allows you the opportunity to work in all aspects of the business from front of house, food and beverage, sales, finance and HR to gain and develop your operational experience, knowledge and expertise.

Or perhaps you may want to specialise from the start?

Alternatively if you want to specialise we offer a structured programme in one of the following areas that allows you to progress through your chosen career path:

Case Study

Tiernan Redmond – joined us on our graduate management programme in 2009


Tiernan Redmond joined Principal Hayley in September 2009 on a graduate management programme. Tiernan was studying at Shannon College in Ireland for a Batchelor of Commerce in International Hospitality.

For his final year, Tiernan was required to complete a further placement gaining management / supervisory experience.
Tiernan has explained that he became interested in a career within hospitality by a “ throw away” comment from his mother , he was intending to embark on a career in law! Further to this “comment” Tiernan investigated and pursued hospitality as his future career.
His interest grew in Principal Hayley after we had been over to Ireland, visited Shannon College and delivered a presentation. He states that all students were “buzzing” from our presentation and there was great interest in Principal Hayley and our impact on the students was described as “by far the best” .

He successfully gained a position on the management programme and was based at the George Hotel in Edinburgh. Tiernan describes his experience as “fantastic, wow” , the experience he was given at property, in the quarterly development workshops and by becoming involved in the opening of the Grand Connaught Rooms in London has helped him to develop his “real” management skills and talents. He has gained valuable management experience and has enjoyed all aspects of his development. Tiernan now works for us as Business Development Co-ordinator at the Grand Central Hotel, Glasgow, which is due to open mid September 2010 so much to his excitement Tiernan is gaining experience of another opening.

Tiernan states that Principal Hayley made the right impact from the beginning, there was passion and interest shown about people development, it offered a unique portfolio of products and looked upon graduates joining them as individuals, all with differing career aspirations and learning needs. It offered tailored development to individuals and he received such, Principal Hayley exceeded his expectations.
